This is a contemporary cross-stitch design and project book – a refreshing and modern take on the traditional craft of cross-stitching that will appeal to an audience that keeps up with current trends. The reader will be guided through the materials and tools of the trade before being taught the fundamental techniques of cross-stitching. Readers can experiment with working up miniature designs to large-scale canvases and rugs. Finally, there is a chapter on Thinking Outside the Box, which aims to inspire with suggestions of alternative materials and ideas to explore. AUTHOR: Sarah Fordham graduated from university in 2005 with a BA(hons) degree in Fine Art. Her work was exhibited in the Embroiderer's Guild's international exhibition, The Art of the Stitch, which led to her receiving a mention in The Times newspaper. She has since focussed on making quirky cross-stitch jewellery and accessories, and is most known for her oversized badges worn by the likes of television presenter, Fearne Cotton.
